Wayne Is Here (2003)
Step up
I got my hand on the trigger and I'm clutchin like Mike
I talk it so I might as well walk it - hike hike
Weezy behind the center - hike hike
I don't stand in the pocket
I step up and hit the man with a rocket - It's Weezy baby!
Wayne likes sports. There's a strong parallel between sports and rap in terms of competition and always pushing to be the best, and he's very good at talking about both as if they were one and the same. In this case he takes basketball, football, and boxing (and walking!), and uses the language of each one to present a case for why he's as tough as his raps indicate.
The first comparison is pretty simple - he handles guns like MJ handles a basketball, but the clever bit is the actual switch on the word clutch. It's almost like that word is where the first image transforms into the next one, and there's nothing else that relates the two. One day I'll find out if there's some kind of technical terminology for this. A similar thing happens with the repeated "hike hike", where the image switches from him walking (hiking), to him being the QB in the middle of a game. The last bit is a lot more straight forward though and he's basically saying his uppercut has the power of a rocket. Although I wouldn't be suprised if there's another metaphor for weaponry buried in there. Maybe something like "I don't bother fighting, I just pull out the rocket launcher." Works for me either way.
