Some people hang you out to dry, like a towel rack
I'm all about I, give the rest of the vowels back

I like my girl thick, not just kinda fine
Eat her til she cry, call that wine and dine

Try to check me and I'mma have em checkin pulses
They say choose wisely, that's why I was chosen

Rockin like asphalt
It's the cash fault

Looked in the face of death
And took its mask off

This is more of that inspirational and prophetic Wayne. I would imagine the first couplet hits harder now than it did originally, given all the drama he had to deal with in the following years. It's a worthwhile warning for life in general too, and I especially like his suggestion for how to deal with it. Look out for "I" and disregard "U".

The wine and dine line is textbook Weezy wordplay, connecting two seemingly unrelated images with one word, in this case "whine". What ends up happening is the first image is built using a synonym for whine (cry), and the second using a homophone (wine), so the word itself is only alluded to but still fully realized by the listener.

The line about choosing wisely is also pretty clever, because the image of who "they" are in the listener's mind immediately changes in the second half. It essentially goes from some random authority figure giving out advice, to the Universe at large selecting someone who will leave an impact on all of history.

The talk about death could be up for debate, but I have my own interpretation. I think what he's saying is he's seen death up close (in multiple ways), and it's no longer a mystery to him. It's unmasked, and therefore he doesn't fear it.
