Pull Up (2015 - FWA)
You can do it!
1 Hear you niggas talkin bout
Whatchu gon do or might do
2 I invite you
I entice you
3 But I advise you
Not to
4 God bless you
Like achoo
5 Police find you
In the Bayou
6 With you friends by you
With your shit knocked loose
7 Nigga that's what you'll get
Like Ken and Ryu
8 I been Piru
I'm in my mood
9 So you know what you can do?
Fuck nigga PULL UP
I want to highlight three different things here, and try not to get too deep.
3 - The way he delivers this makes it sound like he's saying "I advise you not to God bless you." This made no sense to me for a while, and now I think it's something more like this: After inviting and enticing them to come do something, he's also advising them not to do anything. This way the God bless you bit has to be the start of a whole new thought.
5 - This is why he was advising them not to. My favorite part is the bayou/by you rhyme. I think it's because the bayou evokes images of New Orleans, or the South in general, so it feels like you're stepping into Wayne's world for a second. Also because it's another instance of him "rhyming the same words," except not.
7 - This one's still a bit of a question mark for me. Ken and Ryu are Street Fighter characters, pretty much the main ones, and the only reason I can see for him mentioning them is that the way he says "that's what you'll get" maybe sounds a little like the things they shout in the game. So basically WHATCHUGET is kind of like HADOUKEN? Very much a stretch, but I see no other reason for mentioning Ken and Ryu.
There's a lot more worth highlighting in this song, and I might do an extended entry. Let me know in the comments if that's something you'd like to see.
