Lay You Down (2009)
Flat

I'm from a small place they call Uptown
Where we lay you
Where we lay you
Down
Like concrete in the driveway
Shoot sideways
Like O-Dog on Menace
Leave yo brains in yo tennis
I'm the renaissance man
So put me in the book
And I got my pistol on the hook

I've avoided having other artists in these entries, but the hook is too good, and the way Wayne includes it in his lyrics adds a kind of graceful menace to what he's saying. Especially the laugh that goes along with the threat. Very satisfying. So props to DA Wallach for the vocals.
It took me a few minutes to figure out the driveway line because I kept linking it with shooting sideways. Once I realized it's "lay you down like concrete in the driveway" it all made sense and I felt silly, so I thought I'd mention it in case anyone else had the same issue.
There was another O-Dog line on No Ceilings. Bonus points if you know which song. And if you don't know the reference, it's Menace II Society (1993). And tennis implies tennis shoes.
I don't know what it is, but I really like what's happening with his voice on the renaissance man line. Maybe it's the fact that it reminds me of raspy Wayne, which usually implies darker subject matter. More of that is always welcome. And I'm assuming the pistol on the hook lines implies that if his pistol could talk this is what it would say.
